JC Bridge Possible Future

Posted on December 18, 2009 at 10:24 AM

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Based on the limited information and schematic rendering available from Mercer County regarding the proposed roadway re-alignment and removal of Jacob's Creek Bridge, and discussions with professionals based on that schematic - we have posted a 2-dimensional image and a cartoon rendering below to allow citizens to see how the countys' proposal will effect our historical landscape, allow a viable alternative for truck traffic, allow for increased speed limits, and destroy Washington's Victory Trail forever.

YUCK. A disgrace and revolting. Yet, where is the sketch of that horrendous big bully Jansen Pharmopsychoticals? We should have a contest to see who can draw the best rendition of this debacle and Jansen Parmopsychoticals must be in the drawing to win.

I commute every day on 579, and am now forced to use rt 29 and get on 95 south at Exit 1 which is really dangerous in my opinion. Why can't they either fix the existing bridge ( how about a metal grate bottom to replace the wood ), or just replace the bridge and put a new one in the exact same location, without doing all the proposed highway extension? Keep 579 off-limits to big trucks. Then they could do something smart with the money like fund the West Trenton RR line extension.

Interesting cartoon! The only point worth noting: don't think there will be ANY trees left. The 200 year sycamore will be the first to go. It's right on the path of the "Huges Victory Trail"

Help save the historic Harbourton District from truck traffic.

http://www.petitiononline.com/Harbort/petition.html

This already Nationally Registered historic district is in danger of severe consequences should the County plan to replace the Jacobs Creek Bridge with a massive new roadway allowing tracter trailer trucks. Harbourton is approximately 1.5 miles down Bear Tavern Road from the bridge site. Thank you!
