About Me
I am passionate about saving this Historic piece of land. This is probably the only part of the trail that still looks much the same as when Washington and his troops marched in 1776. Titusville, NJ is the front seat of the American Revolution but is often overlooked. Two of our American Presidents, General George Washington and Lt. James Monroe (who later became our 5th President) marched this trail on their way to the now infamous battle of Trenton. It has been reported that after crossing the river for 9 hours they came to the raging waters of Jacobs Creek. The ravine was so steep that they had to tie ropes to the trees to lower 18 cannons down the ravine and then build a make shift bridge and then travel up the hill. Historians report that Washington's troops did not want to go at this point, but because of Washington's determination, they followed their commander. I am proud to be involved in this movement and proud to be an American! Post a CommentOops! The words you entered did not match the given text. Please try again. 0 Comments |
